2. Greyhound track - same as doughnut but with extra rows in centre, 34 workstations + teacher

Each pupil workstation is 0.8m wide and 0.65m deep. The room design is based on an area of about 66m² as most classrooms fall short of the recommended 80m² for an ICT suite.

Disadvantages
  • Space efficient

 
  • Wasted corner space

  • Corner conflict - pupils sitting on top of each other

  • No good teaching position anywhere with a good view of pupils and what they are doing

  • More pupils facing away from teacher

  • Poor visibility for/of many of the pupils

  • Teacher ends up as the greyhound
